LE BOUDOIR SHAM

According to the Dictionary, the French word boudoir translates to mean  "sulking place" or "pouting room".  It is a lady's inner sanctum, her girl-cave, if you will.  Most often it is a space of soft colors, soothing fabrics and millions of pillows (which their significant others complain about profusely).  However, for those of us who love pillows, there are pillows of every size and shape to fulfill our pillow addiction.

The Boudoir Pillow is a small, usually 12" x 16" pillow filled with feathers, down or polyester fibers.

It is small enough to prop under that crook in your neck, or elevate your knees every so slightly. You can place it between your knees to alleviate hip pain or just squish it in your arms like a cherished pet.  Of course you will need to clothe your fluffy friend in a beautiful sham so it will compliment all the other linens adorning your bed.

There are so many styles of  Boudoir Sham to choose from that you may need to invest in a couple of different ones. You may want it to match your linens or you may want it to be an accent piece.

Some of the plethora of boudoir shams we carry in the Boutique are printed like these
by D. Porthault of Paris.

Some shams are embroidered by machine,

and some are hand-embroidered.

They can be appliquéd,

or monogrammed.

Whatever your style, we can find a Boudoir sham (or two) for you in our cabinets which are stuffed with sham-filled baskets or we can help you to design your own unique cover and a sheet set to keep it company, naturalment !!

RED, WHITE AND TRUE BLUE

We are approaching another 4th of July, so it's time to get uber patriotic and don your red, white and blues.  Here in the Boutique, we have dressed our windows for the celebration and made sure we have lots of adorable holiday outfits on hand for your little ones.

We had Baroni copy a vintage dress in crisp, white piqué with scalloped collar and cuff and little ladybug smocking. Perfect for a lawn party or picnic.

If you toddler is a little more rambunctious, you might prefer this red gingham check shorts set which allows for a bit more rough and tumble.

If you'll be down at the shore, don't forget these water shoes by Archimede. Little toes will thank you as they wade past all those nasty sharp seashells and pebbles.

A super cute Navy and White cotton knit hoodie is just what's needed for a late afternoon at the beach.

And how perfect are these trunks.....red,white and navy stripes by Baby CZ will be a hit at the pool or the beach !  Little Cienta canvas sneakies are perfect for surf or turf.

What could be better than drying off with a sailboat embroidered towel ?

Red, white and blue always lend themselves to nautical attire. Anchor sweater can be ordered in sizes from infant to 6 years. You choose the color combo, but we love Navy on Red.

Better buckle up.....anyone can wear this monogrammed belt (His or Her Royal Highness) but you can also order with your own initials.

One of our very favorite sweaters from Patricia Roberts of London, this cotton sailboat cardie is waiting for just the right Yankee Doodle Baby to show it off. It can also be ordered in a multitude of colors.

Don't neglect your tootsies on the 4th ! The perfect shoe will complete the outfit whether it's for play or party-going.

If you are lucky enough to have a 6-12 year old, there are lots of adorable tops, shorts and skirts that are on sale and perfect for July 4th. Sadly, we won't be stocking the bigger sizes next year, so this is your chance to get a super deal !!

When it's time for nighty-night, why not pad off to bed in style. Rachel Riley's classic English slippers are the icing for a custom-made tailored robe from Baroni and a crisp, white pair of red-piped pj's from France.

Now that Dick and Jane are all set, don't forget your own 4th of July needs. Did you remember to get invites to your fireworks gala ?

All set with glassware....

and paper cocktails or guest towels ?

If you have hit the road and headed north for the 4th, give us a call (561)655-7367 and we will be happy to mail you a care package in time for America's Birthday !!

PALM BEACH PERFECTION ON PENDLETON

My favorite thing about living in Miami is that it is so close to Palm Beach, and one
of these days we would love to have a little weekend home there. In the meantime,
I stalk the MLS. My latest find is this British Colonial style home built in 1931 by
society architect Gustav Maas.

This charming home is located in-town on charming Pendleton Avenue
and features 5 bedrooms, 6.5 baths, and 4,462 square feet renovated and
decorated to perfection. You can read more about it here.

UPDATE: I was thrilled to learn that this home was decorated by none
other than the renowned Palm Beach decorator, Leta Austin Foster. You
can see the magazine quality shots over at The Foo Dog Blog.
