OUR BOOK IS HERE ! !

Finally, the long awaited and much anticipated book "Traditional Interiors" is available for pre-order at Amazon.com. This is an exciting moment for us and for all of you that were anxious to see more of our work. After our wonderful inclusion in Farrow and Ball's book, "The Art of Colour", we were invited to showcase more of our Design jobs in an exclusive tome.

This book is written by the same talented author that penned "The Art of Colour", 
Brian D. Coleman. His love of historic architecture and decor is evident in his detailed descriptions of my treasured works. 

This time, famed interiors photographer, Erik Kvalsvik, has teamed with him to capture the beauty of the fabrics, the wall coverings and all the design details that come together to create wonderful, comforting and timeless homes for our clients.

Come November, ( Monday, November 30th at 2:30 to be exact ) I will be giving a Lecture and Book signing at the Society of the Four Arts in Palm Beach. I'm so looking forward to this and I would love you to come.

RIVA D'ARNO

Established in Florence in 1981, the Riva d'Arno atelier creates exclusive, high-quality linens for the home.

This month our display bed is made with a combination of Riva d'Arno, D. Porthault and Noël of Paris linens. We chose a beautiful machine-embroidered sateen cut-edge design in the palest of pinks from Riva d'Arno and accented it with a Geranium boudoir sham from Noël of Paris and the ever-popular Violette duvet cover from D. Porthault.

All of Riva d'Arno's designs can be machine-embroidered or hand-embroidered. We selected several designs of bedlinens....

...and several embroidered towel designs for the Boutique. You can customized these items by choosing different base colors for the linens and toweling and by choosing the embroidery thread color of your choice.

 The embroidered bedlinens can be created on Sateen cotton (Egyptian, long-staple cotton, of course) or a very fine Linen.

This year, we have a lot of sizes 6,7,8 and 10, simply (and sadly) because we are phasing out bigger kids' clothes. We can still custom-order any of our beautiful Baroni, Anichini and Patricia Smith styles for your older child, but we just don't get enough off-the-rack sales of these sizes to warrant carrying stock.

Children want what their friends are wearing and are swayed by the (do we dare say it?) poor taste of whatever current trend is de rigueur ....spangles, tutus, rhinestones etc. It is up to mother to impart a modicum of taste on little George or Emma before letting him or her fly solo on the roller coaster of fashion trends. I cannot tell you how many mothers ask their 2 and 3 year olds if they would wear a particular outfit before they purchase it.

We are on a mission to educate mothers to take back their right to dress their children in proper, sensible and beautiful clothes and as they grow older, to educate them in their choices so they may enjoy the finer sartorial things in life (and don't show up to an Opera in a leotard with a feather boa as a skirt/belt....yes, this was an actual outfit seen at Lincoln Center!!)

TEA FOR TWO....OR THREE....OR FOUR

This year we found a new little company that specializes in unique blends of Iced Teas.

Each of their adorable tea caddies holds enough tea bags to brew 6 big pitchers of
iced tea.  The reason we were so enamored, as you will be, is not only because they
taste so good, but the blends are named after 6 different streets in Palm Beach !

What fabulous hostess presents they make, not to mention souvenirs of a visit to the tropical paradise that IS Palm Beach !  At $20.00 a tin, you can buy one for every friend you have and stock up your own northern pantry so you can evoke that Palm Beach vibe every time you get a bit melancholy for our palm tree-lined lanes and sandy shores.

We have lots of caddies in stock, so call or email the Boutique and have us ship you a few (dozen?).

PUTTING ON THE DOG

Just the other day a customer came in the shop with her tiny little fluffy pup no bigger than a hamster. We are VERY pet-friendly here at Leta Austin Foster Boutique. In fact, we know the names of many of our clients' furry friends and love to have them visit.

Our love of all that is dog is very visible in the merchandise we choose for our shop. Our greeting card shelves always sport a selection of cute doggie pictures on cards for all occasions,

and our Stationery Department stocks boxed sets of Scottie, Lab and Poodle notecards by Dempsey and Carroll.

We sell a lot of adorable linen guest towels with embroidered Scotties and Jack Russels and are trying to get this vendor to embroider more breeds.

However, if he can't......we can always have our fabulous bed linen company, Baroni of Florence, embroider them for us. One of our favorite clients had these bed linens made by Baroni for her little boy's room. They picture his Labrador in silhouette all across the hem.

Dogs are also prominent in our children's department. We carry these beautiful, hand-knit sweaters from London that have Angora puppies on the pockets.

Hair clips from France are all lined up on a hanging ribbon . We sell so many of these Scotties and Poodles that I'm sure nearly every little girl (and some big ones) in America has a pair !

During our "Season" we had litters of stuffed puppies of every ilk, but now our lonely little friend is waiting for a loving child to adopt him.

Many dog breeds are available as Sterling Silver Belt Buckles . There are Labs, Poodles, Bischons, Scotties, Chihuahuas and many others. We sell them alone, or with a fine leather belt which can be ordered in several colors.

Dogs are even a favorite theme of Il Prato. They are a unique paper company in Venice that also produce desk accessories and frames covered in their wrapping papers. Our favorite designs are "UGO and BEPI" (the names of the owners' dogs) and "PAW PRINTS".

We even have a dog on our custom  "Resorts" china. Each plate has a different scene taken from a vintage book named "Resorts", and the dessert plates depict Mrs. Poop-de-doo being led from her chauffeur-driven car by her pampered pup !

When you finish choosing all your wonderful presents (for yourself) let us wrap them all up in this beautiful French woven ribbon with....you guessed it....dogs !!

Stop on in with your favorite little canine.....we'll be waiting.....
